ABOUT
MEET MALIA
So happy you dropped by! My name is Malia – a Texas gal planting roots in the suburbs of Indianapolis. I got married a month after graduating from Notre Dame, and I’m having such a fun time adjusting to adult life and making our first place together feel like a home! I started my blog back in college when I was looking for a creative outlet from my academics, and I have loved getting to share a bit of my life and interests on this little corner of the internet. Consider this blog your guide to timeless, classic style (for both your home and your wardrobe) with a bit of a southern flair – all on an attainable and affordable budget. I believe everyone should be able to curate a space and closet they love, so if you’re looking to save without sacrificing style, this is the place for you!
My Catholic faith is the foundation of my life and family, and I love chatting about ways to incorporate it into the every day. Whether it’s through routines, books, feast day celebrations, or Catholic decor, if you’re looking for liturgical living inspiration, you’re in the right place!
“Don’t get so busy making a living that you forget to make a life.”

Welcome to my little corner of the internet!
I’D LOVE TO GET IN TOUCH. HOW CAN I CONTACT YOU?
Feel free to send an email to malia@graceandgingham.com or message me on my contact page! I’m also pretty active on Instagram @maliakmears!
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I was born in Austin, Texas, but I grew up in Houston. I absolutely love Texas, and I couldn’t imagine growing up anywhere else! After getting married in June 2022, I moved to my husband’s hometown of Indianapolis, and it’s really growing on me!
HOW DID YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND MEET?
Funny story, actually! We were in a group chat together during our senior year of high school (with other seniors all over the country who were planning on going to Notre Dame), and so we got acquainted way back then! I didn’t see him much once freshman year of college started, but he switched into my macroeconomics class spring semester, and we ended up working on our final group project together. I thought he was really sweet, but the semester was over before we knew it, and we didn’t have time to get to know each other before the summer. Fast forward to June 20, 2019, Jacob posted a gorgeous sunset photo while he was up at Lake Michigan, and I sent him a message about how beautiful it was. When he responded, we got to talking, and just never stopped!
WHAT IS YOUR FAITH/RELIGION?
I’m Roman Catholic and my faith is a huge part of my life! Jacob and I both grew up Catholic and we got married in the Church. The Lord has seen me through so many of life’s trials and celebrations, and I am so blessed to have developed a true relationship with Him at such a young age. I am by no means perfect, but the Lord is kind and merciful, and I am constantly striving toward sanctification.
WHERE DID YOU GO TO COLLEGE AND WHAT DID YOU STUDY?
I went to the University of Notre Dame and graduated in May 2022 with a major in Political Science and minors in Business Economics and Real Estate.
HOW DO YOU MAKE MONEY FROM YOUR BLOG?
Great question! I am so incredibly grateful that I am able to make a small amount of income from By Grace & Gingham, as I dedicate a lot of time, effort, energy, and love into putting out high quality content for my readers to enjoy.
To get into specifics, I make a very small commission through my LiketoKnow. It and ShopMy affiliate links when someone clicks on a link and purchases something. Using these links is of no cost to you, and helps me to continue improving my content and making my various project ideas a reality! However, not every link I share is an affiliate link, and I do not base my content solely on what products I can monetize.
