Hey, y’all! As promised, today I’ll be sharing our formal engagement photos! The gallery is stunning, and I am so glad we decided to do both casual and formal shoots. Meet you at the bottom of the post for some of my thoughts on the session!

Bow Heels // Dress (Sold Out)
Okay, first of all – how stinkin’ cute is that last photo? Jacob and his silliness make yet another hilarious photo! Aside from my shoes (which I’ll get into a little bit later), this was my favorite part of the shoot. I loved seeing my Hoosier man in the blue gingham bowtie my parents bought him for Christmas (can you get any more Texan?), and flowy dresses make for such great photos!
We shot at Hermann Park near the Sam Houston Monument, and once again, I am so thankful to have photos with Jacob in a place that is so clearly home. I loved growing up in Houston and it has such a special place in my heart, so I couldn’t have thought of a better place to have these special moments captured.
Our photographer, Erika, did such an amazing job making us feel comfortable in front of the camera, and by the time we got around to the formal shoot, we were definitely warmed up! It was so fun just getting to laugh together and be ourselves, and Erika captured everything so well!
On to the shoes…I’m not sure if bows are just really popular right now, or if I started some kind of trend, but so many of Erika’s other brides wore bow heels for their engagement sessions after our shoot was published! My shoes are from Lulus, and don’t get me wrong, I have no regrets about wearing them because they are just darling, BUT…they are SO uncomfortable. We did quite a bit of walking around Hermann Park and I kid you not, I was waddling. The photos were definitely worth it, but if I could have changed anything, I would have had my mom carry a pair of sandals for me to change into on the walk back to the car. If you’re looking for an adorable pair of heels for your engagement session and you’re a “beauty is pain” kind of gal, I still highly recommend them, but if you’re looking for comfort, these are not it.
I am so looking forward to all of the fun wedding-related events coming up this spring, and I can’t wait to share more about this exciting season. College has gotten pretty busy as of late, but keep an eye out for new posts coming soon!
