Hey, y’all! It’s official! I’m finally living in an apartment! In case you didn’t know, Notre Dame requires that students live on-campus for six semesters, so I wasn’t allowed to move out of the dorms until my senior year.
I’m not going to lie, living on-campus was pretty convenient (especially because I could leave my room 5 minutes before class and still somehow manage to make it on time), but I am so happy to have so much more room to myself! No more communal bathrooms and showers, no more dirty dishes and utensils tossed into dorm kitchen drawers, and so much more space to customize and make my own!
I think it’s important to mention that this apartment did come furnished, and I wasn’t allowed to move any of the furniture out of the apartment, but honestly, I don’t mind! I think it still gives the space a college-y feel, and I’m glad I didn’t have to spend the extra money to completely furnish it myself just yet (but boy am I looking forward to fully decorating my first apartment with my fiancé, Jacob, after we get married next year)!
Since college can be very stressful, I really wanted to create a space that felt cozy, inviting, and relaxed. It’s my first time getting to have a real separation between school and home, and I wanted to be able to come back from class to someplace I could feel comfortable and at ease.
So, I ditched all of the cool greys and patterns of dorm rooms past, and embraced white, cream, and more natural fabrics. I think they fit the space very well, and I’m so happy with how it turned out! I’ve collected a number of the pieces in my room over the past couple of years of college, so for anything that’s no longer available, I did my best to link something similar!
