Well, y’all…it appears as though my brief stint in Indiana for college is not going to be very brief at all!
I signed my commercial real estate job contract back in November, but my brokerage generously gave me the option to work remotely from anywhere, so our post-grad destination was pretty much all up to wherever Jacob ended up finding a job!
There was a lot of uncertainty going into 2022, but I have some very exciting news to share with you today…
Jacob and I will be making Indianapolis our home this June!
WOOHOO!!
I’m still finishing up my last semester here at Notre Dame, but being the smart cookie he is, Jacob graduated a semester early (I mean, come on, do you even know what Applied Computational Mathematics and Statistics is? Because I certainly don’t!).
The plan was for him to get a job right after graduation, move back in with his parents in the northern suburbs of Indy to save money, and then move into a new place with me after we get married.
Many prayers and job applications later…
Jacob is gainfully employed!
He just made it official on Monday, and he’ll be reporting for duty starting on February 14th!
Given the fact that I’m currently camped inside due to a winter snowstorm raging outside, I’m not gonna lie…the thought of moving back home to Texas is nice, but clearly God has other plans!
Moving to a new city where I don’t really know anyone is going to be a big adjustment, especially working from home, but I can feel God working in our lives, and I just know that there’s a lot of goodness in store for us come June!
We’ve already started looking at apartments, and I’m getting so excited just thinking about creating a beautiful new home for us, getting plugged into a Church community, joining the Junior League of Indianapolis, and exploring a city that – though I’ve visited his family often – I still don’t really know much about!
It’s crazy to think that I’m going to have to give up my Texas license plates and ID (Texas pride runs strong, y’all), but you know how it goes…you can take the girl out of Texas, but you can never take the Texas out of the girl!
2022 is going to be a big year. New degree, new job, new city, new husband – there will be a LOT of change, but there’s no one else I’d rather have by my side through it all! I’m so proud of Jacob and all that he’s accomplished, and I can’t wait to start our lives together down in Indianapolis this June!
fondly,
Malia

One of my closest friends is from Indy and she absolutely loved living there throughout her growing up years. I’ve heard it’s a wonderful city! I wish you both all the best with your move and with adjusting to a new place. I’m sure it’ll be wonderful!
